NJBIZ Honors Berkeley College with Empowering Women Award, Recognizing Efforts to Advance Women in Business

NJBIZ has recognized Berkeley College among the recipients of the Empowering Women – Companies Leading the Way award for the third consecutive year. The award honors New Jersey organizations for their tangible and innovative efforts to advance women in business and in the community.
Honorees were selected based on their records of recruiting, hiring, and promoting women; offering mentorship programs; contributing to philanthropic endeavors that advance women; and working toward systemic change to combat inequality. Click here to see the 37 honorees recognized by NJBIZ.
“Being honored with the NJBIZ Empowering Women award for the third consecutive year highlights the enduring commitment of Berkeley College to advancing women – from our origins as a secretarial school for women to the far-reaching impact of our alumni,” said Diane Recinos, EdD, President of Berkeley College. “We proudly recognize the trailblazers across our College community who continue to inspire meaningful change.”
Berkeley College offers a Tuition Reimbursement program that encourages faculty and staff to pursue advanced degrees, providing a pathway to professional advancement. With an undergraduate student population that is more than 70 percent female, the College also prioritizes mentorship and offers robust programming such as Women’s Entrepreneurship Week, which has connected successful business leaders with aspiring women entrepreneurs for a decade.
In 2025, the College launched a Mentors in Media program, through which Applied Media students shadow professionals and gain career advice in fields where women remain underrepresented – just 21% in podcasting and under 40% in radio, according to the Women’s Media Center. Additionally, the Teach Me Something podcast developed by Berkeley College and iHeartPodcasts features interviews with the inspiring voices of students, faculty, staff, and community leaders.
